Kim E. Hendrix, beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, grandpa, cousin and friend passed away on Friday, June 7, 2024. He was born in Japan at the Johnson Air Force Base on December 20, 1956 to Kenneth Edward Hendrix and Martha (Hoefler) Hendrix.
Kim is a 1975 Chanute High School graduate where he excelled in sports and met his lifetime sweetheart, Betsy. Kim became a part of the Ottawa University family making lifelong friends as well as playing and achieving success in football. He graduated in 1979 with a BA in Psychology. In 2010 he was inducted into the Braves Athletic Hall of Fame. Kim spent 38 years working in Telecommunications as a Financial Analyst for Southwestern Bell and AT&T, retiring in 2019. Always one to keep busy, Kim found extreme joy driving for Eddy's Chevrolet with their wonderful crew.
Kim's love of sports continued with a passion for the KC Chiefs and KC Royals. He will always be remembered for his quick wit, putting his heart and soul in all he did, the compassionate way he would help others, and the love he showed for his Ottawa buddies, countless friends, cherished family, and his faith in God. This amazing man made a difference.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Teresa Willis; nephews, Waylon Willis and Landon Willis; and grandson, Cody Roberts.
Kim is survived by his wife, Betsy and their daughters: Liz (Brian) Roberts, Erin (John) Lawrence and Emily (Mike) McDonough; brother, Jay (Linda) Hendrix; seven beautiful grandchildren: Braden Roberts, Kipton Roberts, Emmett Roberts, Cooper Lawrence, Ella Lawrence, Evelyn McDonough, and Lainey McDonough.
A Celebration of Life Service for Kim will be held 10:00 AM, Monday, June 24th, at Central Community Church, 6100 West Maple Street, Wichita, Kansas 67209.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions in Kim's memory go to Central Community Church, 6100 West Maple Street, Wichita, Kansas 67209.
