Kathryn Ann Price, 77, of Wichita, KS passed away peacefully on February 10th, 2019 surrounded by family and friends. Born in Horton, KS on July 10th, 1941 to Dale Higley and Ora (Whitney) Higley, Kathy spent her early years following her father around on the family farm. The family moved to Wichita in 1949. She attended Wichita East High School and graduated from Wichita State University in 1977 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. At WSU, she was a member of Alpha Phi Fraternity. Her first career lasted 25 years at Beech Aircraft where she worked as a technical illustrator in the art department. In 1991, she became a REALTOR®. After retirement, she was active in the community, volunteering as a Master Gardner, a member of the Hosta Society, and served as Historian on the board of Project Beauty. If it was outdoors and green, she loved it. Kathy was an avid supporter of the preservation of the Home on the Range cabin in Smith County, where the poem “My Western Home” was written by Dr. Brewster Higley, which is well-known as the state song of Kansas. She is preceded in death by her parents Dale and Ora and is survived by her daughter Sabrina Price, son Robert (Juliana) Price and grandson Michael, brother Jerry (Sheryl) Higley and niece Jennifer, sister Janet (Jim) Elliott and niece Laura (Rich) Monroe and nephew Tim (Christine) Elliott, and numerous grandnieces and grandnephews. She is also survived by her boyfriend Jerry Snyder and good friend Connie Estivo whose love and support for her were immeasurable. We would like to express gratitude to the SICU nursing staff at Ascension Via Christi whose kindness, love and care were given freely to Kathy and her family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the People’s Heartland Foundation, 136 S.
