Katherine Marie Keys found peace before dawn October 28, 2021. She was born in Wichita, Kansas, at 3:10 pm on May 3, 1986. Attending Allen and Seltzer Elementary and Coleman Middle Schools, she graduated from Wichita Southeast High School in 2004. In 2007, she achieved an Associate of Science degree from Butler County Community college in Andover, Kansas. She was an online member of the Kansas Gardeners.
Katie held many jobs over her short life. She has been a clerk, a cook, a warehouse worker and a delivery person. Most of all, she was a caregiver. She cared for her grandfather and uncle for many years. She continued to care for he uncle and her parents until her passing.
Katie loved to travel. During her early years, the family spent many weekends discovering every county in Kansas. Later, she traveled to 28 different states and Canada; including over two dozen Frank Lloyd Wright designs. Katie's love of music grew over those trips as she loved to sing, rock out and name any artist or song that played. She managed to venture out on her own a few times.
Katie had the best of two worlds when visiting either grandparents' house. Both homes were filled with faith and love. Holidays were shuffled with no more than a dozen family members at one house and sometimes more than three dozen family members at the other house to celebrate. She loved the farm where she would help with chores and enjoyed the gospel music and crafting that she learned. Her hobbies include cooking, gardening, video games, paining and helping her parents, aunt and uncle.
Survivors are Thomas J Keys and Barbara Haderlein-Keys of the home and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Preceded in death by grandparents Edward, Marie and Dorothy Keys and Dr. Robert and Patricia Haderlein, Uncle Bill Keys, Aunt Judy and Uncle Fred Reschke, and cousin Dale Reschke.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Flinthills Services, Inc., Eldorado, KS.
