Karen E. Powell

Powell, Karen E., age 66, of Del City, Oklahoma passed away suddenly Saturday, August 23, 2014 at the Midwest City Hospital in Midwest City, Oklahoma. She was born October 7, 1947 in Binger, Oklahoma to Alta and Andrew J. Powell. She had a younger brother Richard. She grew up in Wichita, Ks attending Gardiner Elementary, Mead Junior High, and South High School. She received her associate degree from Rose State College Midwest City, Oklahoma. She worked as a civilian employee at Tinker Air force Base, retiring in 2004 after 31 years. She had formerly worked for the U.S. Attorney’s office in Washington DC and the police department in Wichita. She enjoyed old movies, genealogy study, and visiting with friends and family. She is survived by her brother Richard Powell and wife Jeanette of Derby, KS, three nieces: Beth White (Michael) , Michelle Richmond (Tom), and Emily Powell; grandniece Faith White and grandnephew Titus White. She leaves behind a wealth of friends and family who will greatly miss her presence. Visitation will be 6-8:00 pm Thursday, August 28 at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 W. Highway 54, Wichita, KS, and the funeral will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 29 also at Resthaven.
