Karen Virginia Daas, 75, of Wichita, Kansas passed away on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 in Wichita. Karen was born on April 11, 1946 at St. Barnard’s Hospital in Minneapolis, MN to Clement and Virginia Johnson.
Karen grew up in St. Louis Park, MN where she participated in swim team and ballet. She graduated from St. Louis Park High School in 1964 and attended Mankato State University, received her LPN at Brainerd Community College in 1991, and achieved her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Nursing at Bemidji State University in 1995.
She married Joseph Daas on October 14, 1967, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Louis Park, MN. They set up home in Cottage Grove, MN, where they welcomed their two sons, then proceeded to move further North to Pequot Lakes, MN where they owned Point Narrows Resort. They then moved to Brainerd, MN where Karen fulfilled her passion as a nurse. In 2010 Joe and Karen moved to Wichita, Kansas.
Karen is preceded in death by her parents. Karen is survived by her husband Joseph Daas, sons Michael Daas (Tara), Steven Daas (Stephanie), grandson Ted Evenson, granddaughters Carley Daas and Sydney Daas, brother Gary Johnson (Gerene) and many beloved brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews, and Godchildren.
A local memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 9th, 2021 at Reflection Ridge Retirement Community. Address: 2300 N. Tyler Rd., Wichita, KS 67205.
There will be a service held in Brainerd, MN and burial in Hudson, WI at a later date.
