I met Karen at Miss Kansas reunions. She was always so kind. I enjoyed getting to know her and hearing her stories. My deepest condolences to her  family.  Keeping her loved ones in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Karen was a very special lady, who loved her family, and truly enjoyed her Miss Kansas family as well.  She had many awesome stories about her experience as Miss Kansas.  I've always enjoyed seeing Karen at the Miss Kansas reunions, and I will miss her beautiful smile.  My heartfelt sympathy to her family and friends. She will be with us always in spirit, and in all those precious memories we share! And from the words of the song, "My Mother's Hands", 'I know that God is holding her hands.'

I always looked up to Karen - she was the most famous person in the Shidler family, and it was an honor to be her cousin. Love you Cuz!

Karen was always so gracious.  I met her when I attended the Miss Kansas reunions.  She was always so gracious and kind.  I loved hearing her Miss Kansas stories. I remember being with Karen at the Miss Kansas reunion.  It was such a pleasure to meet her and get to spend time with her.  She was light-hearted and kind. 
To her family I extend my deepest sympathies.  I know your hearts are breaking.  Though your love is wrapped in tears now, that same love will enfold and comfort you.

My condolences to the family of this very special lady.  I remember that when I was selected as Miss Kansas back in 1965, Karen was kind enough to meet with me and share her experience and helpful suggestions as I prepared for the trip to Atlantic City.  What a wonderful sisterhood we share where all these articulate, talented women support one another.
