Junior Edward McClendon

Junior Edward McClendon, age 95, of Wichita, Kansas passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2024. Junior was born July 20, 1928, in Sallisaw, Oklahoma to Annie Walsie Taylor McClendon and Thomas C McClendon.

Junior and Kathy were married on September 5, 1949 and moved to Wichita from Sallisaw, Oklahoma. They were married for 74 years.

Junior started working for Security Oil at 3001 E Douglas, and worked there for almost 60 years. He was cherished and loved by all of his customers and employer. He took pride in always taking care of others.

He loved to golf, gamble at the casino and loved watching OU sports and the New York Yankees.

Junior is survived by his wife, Mollie "Kathy" McClendon; son Larry McClendon (Christa); daughter-in-law Barbie McClendon; sister Anne Kelly; grandchildren Nick McClendon, Davis McClendon (Jelciane), Sarah McClendon, Jason McClendon (Hollie), and Megan McClendon; great grandchildren Jake, Emma, Austin, and Halia; and many nieces and nephews.

Junior was preceded in death by his son Merle McClendon; father Thomas C McClendon; mother Annie Walsie Taylor McClendon; brothers Johnnie McClendon, Thomas "Buggs" McClendon, and T-Bone McClendon; and sister Gladys McGehee.

A Celebration of Life for Junior will be held Friday, February 23, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Lakeview Funeral Home, 12100 E 13Th St N, Wichita, Kansas 67206.

Contributions in Junior's memory may be made to Larry Baker Memorial benefitting youth sports, C/O Citizens Bank of Kansas, 1033 N Buckner, Derby, Kansas 67037.
