Judy spent her youth in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Kansas City, Kansas and Long Island, New York. She married young and started a family that kept her busy and fulfilled her entire life. She was very involved in not only the raising her own children, but also her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Judy taught primary age children through her profession as a teacher, often giving as much of herself to her students as her own family. Natural landscapes were her favored vacation destinations, especially beaches, mountains and canyons, which she often visited with family. Judy was an enthusiastic sports fan, following the Chiefs, Jayhawks and Shockers in particular. She loved to garden and care for her yard, where she spent countless hours planting, watering, tending, and feeding and watching the little creatures and birds that called her yard home. She leaves a legacy of love and optimism and nurture that affected everyone she knew.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Dorothy Horstmeyer.
Judy is survived by her daughter, Linda Burroughs; son, Bill Knickerbocker; grandchildren, Nicole Britton, Kristen Underwood, Alex Burroughs, Max Burroughs, Michael Knickerbocker, Tyler Carrizales, and Zachary Carrizales; sister, Betty Ugolini; and life partner Dan Zimmerman.
