Judith “Judy” Kay Wimmer (Teaford) of Goddard, KS went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at the age of 80. She was born July 21, 1942 in Los Angeles, CA to Charles Edward “Eddie” and Cleda Maxine Teaford (Stucker).
Judy grew up in Lynwood, CA and graduated from Lynwood High School in 1960.
She met her long-time love, Thomas (Tom) Wimmer, when they played their accordions at a recital at the age of seven. They became friends at age thirteen and married in 1960. They celebrated 62 years of marriage this last January.
A strong believer in the Lord, she was always active in her church, even becoming a volunteer librarian at churches she attended. She was an avid book reader and worked for the Downey City Library in Downey, CA as an assistant librarian while raising her four children. She later worked as the medical librarian at Merle West Medical Center in Klamath Falls, Oregon and then as the school librarian at North Valley Christian School in Redding, CA. She was a scout leader, active sports supporter and neighborhood “mom”. She could be found every morning at the table reading her Bible and doing her devotions while praying for her long list of family and friends, all the way down to her great-grandchildren. Judy loved spending time with Tom, her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends. Judy enjoyed camping, playing card games with her grandchildren, and loved the roses that Tom would grow for her in their backyard.
She is preceded in death by her father, Charles Teaford, step-father and mother Roy and Maxine Shook, her brother Donald Teaford, and two granddaughters.
Judy is survived by her husband Tom, children Elleen Miller (Edwin), Dori Steers (Dennis), Karen Ortiz (Enrique) and Matthew Wimmer (Jennifer), her twelve grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren, and many other loved ones.
Family and friends are invited to attend a traditional Life Celebration service at Heritage Baptist Church in Wichita, Kansas on November 12th at 1 pm, with a viewing from 12:15-12:45pm. A graveside service will follow at Resthaven Mortuary & Gardens of Memory in Wichita, KS.
