Joyce A. Mercer

March 25, 1940 - November 7, 2022

Joyce Mercer passed away peacefully at the age of 82 with family by her side. The daughter of Stephen and Irene Smith born in Strong City, KS. She graduated from West High School in 1957. She worked for Central Air Conditioning, Boeing, and H&R Block. Joyce served as President of Wichita Youth Hockey Association, Secretary/Treasurer of the Kansas Hockey Officials Association, and was instrumental in building the Wichita Ice Sports Center. She was also an active member of her church.

Joyce married Wayne Mercer on July 3rd, 1959. She was a devoted mother, doting “Nanny” to her grandchildren, and the matriarch of her family. She is preceded in death by parents, and sister Geraldine Lewis. She is survived by her husband Wayne Mercer; Sister Barbara Michaels, brother Jerry Joe Smith; sons Dennis (Tami), Robby (Cherry), Gary and Toby; Five Grandchildren Allison Roth (Matt), Kelsey, Jake, Gavin and Drew Mercer; and two great-grandchildren Ella and Piper Roth.

A celebration of life will be held at Chapel Hill UMC on Saturday, November 12th at 10:30AM in Wichita, KS.
