John,

You were my first MEDEVAC mentor, my teacher, my Sergeant, and my friend. You taught me more than I can express. Your smile, humor, and light will forever be in my thoughts. I have thought of you a lot over the last week as I was building my flagpole bench. I am making a plaque with your name on it and attaching it to the brick base. Not much I know, but it shows my children how much you meant to me. You will be next to three of our brothers. 

Some never left the war, and some the war never left them. 

John, 
You were with me through a divorce, my first apartment which you furnished as a housewarming gift and a new job.   You knew my favorite wine and chocolate.   You knew I loved chick-fil-a breakfast and those are all the things that I will forever remember and be grateful for.

Today as I sit here I am already missing the most wonderful nephew.  What a great father, husband and caring person you are!  The world is going to miss a great person with a big heart full of love for everyone.  I will miss you but I know that God needed his angel back.  Rest in peace and I will see you in heaven!

Dear John, we have known each other for 20 years-and wow it was a roller coaster ride of ups and downs. You taught me so many things along our journey. Your fierce loyalty to those you love and true desire to mentor new soldiers and help others were some of your greatest qualities. We are all tremendously  grieving your loss. I promise to do my best to raise our children to love and serve for a purpose, to keep the many happy memories close to our hearts and to honor you as their father. You will live on through Nathan and Cameron.  My truest hope is that you have found the love and peace you so desparately were searching for. Our love always, Shannon, Nathan, and Cameron

I did not know you but thank you for all you did for GDREP. I know Bailey and Max and all the dogs that you helped will be welcoming you at the Rainbow Bridge

I did not know Mr. Branson.  However, after reading these memorials I wish I had.

I knew John in a much different capacity than most. The soldier was a part I didn't often see. The uniform he wore to work had little impact on the way I loved him.I met him as a small child when he began dating my sister. Even before they married, John adored me. He took me on trips, he gave me advice on life and boys. He was the first to teach me respect. I have never done any wrong in his eyes. The way he praised and encouraged me was beyond big brother. He made me listen to Garth brooks and always filled my car up with gas :) he took care of me. He protected me. He doted on me as his little sister. Later, when he had children of his own, our relationship didn't change. Cameron and Nathan were another extension of that loving man. I am so proud to hold their hands through this life, and am so blessed to have so many stories to tell them. John has given me a lifetime of love to share with them. Rest in peace my dear brother. May you feel welcome and loved.

I'm at a loss of words. My prayers & thoughts are with the family. I knew John in high school. A kind & funny guy. Always a gentleman and passion for the military. Rest in peace my dear friend.

My prayers and thoughts go out to your family.  It was an Honor knowing John as a hard working NCO who always took care of his Soldiers.  John will always be remembered as a kind and caring man, he will truly be missed.

I knew John in a different facet of life than others. He loved dogs, and he and Shannon fostered many dogs for Great Dane Rescue of El Paso. I'm sure he passed that love for dogs onto his children. 
 Rest in peace, John, your battle is over. Wear the wings and soar high. You will not be forgotten. Until we meet again, soar high, my friend, soar high.

John was a sweet boy who grew into a kind, thoughtful and caring man.  We are proud of all John accomplished in his life to include his military service.  We are so grateful he was a part of our family, and we will miss him more than words can say.  Rest in peace sweet John.  We love you!

John was a friendly and competent member of our ER team. He will be missed by many. Rest in peace John.

You played such a significant role in my life during my time at IACH. You touched the hearts and minds of everyone you came across and I am fortunate and blessed to have had the opportunity to have had you in my corner and to have had your guidance in some of the most difficult years I  had, both professional and with my family. It was a blessing and honor to know you, be quided by you, and to be considered your friend. I hope you are now at peace my friend. Until we meet again.

John was a wonderful man.  He was the first person to welcome me to Fort Riley.  You will be missed.

We have loved John since the day he was born. I cannot count all of the little things that remind me of him in my everyday thoughts.  Not long ago, I was looking through old photos albums and watching home movies and realized how truly blessed we were to have such a wonderful loving family. I can remember the happy times we had together while at birthdays, graduations, holidays and we will never forget the boys visits to Folly Beach! John's dad, mother, and his brother Rich were always supportive of John's life choices. We know God will be watching over John and he will not suffer any pain or sorrow. John was a good man and he loved his family. John served in the United States Army with pride and dignity...he was a great soldier! We are extremely proud to claim him as our nephew.  Our deepest sympathy goes out to his wife, Heather and his children.     Love always, Aunt Martha and Uncle Cliff.
