Fortune, Jessie Ray, 77, of Wichita, KS passed away on Tues. April 21, 2015 in Wichita. Jessie was born on Oct. 6, 1937 in Fairview, OK the son of Harry and Mable (Warner) Fortune. Jessie and Oak Fortune were united in marriage on May 6, 1960 in Incheon, Korea. Jessie served in the United States Army for 9 years after the Korean Conflict. He served the remaining 20 years in the Army National Guard. He was an expert Rifle Marksmen. He later retired after 16 years from Boeing Aircraft. Jessie and Oak owned and operated Oriental Food and Gifts Center in Wichita for many years. It was one of the first Asian Market in Wichita. He was preceded in death by his, son, Jimme Ray Fortune, parents, sister, Lorene Pembrooke, brothers, Emil Fortune, Alvin Fortune, Larry Don Fortune. Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Oak Fortune of Wichita, KS, daughter, Donna (John Wong) Fortune Wong and their children Natasha Fortune-Checotah, Nikita Fortune-Wong (and her daughter Star Alohalani), and Xavier Wong all of Honolulu, HI, sons, Billy (Brigida) Fortune and their sons Brandon Fortune and Race Fortune all of Palm Bay, FL, Johnnie (Sarah) Fortune and their children Amanda Fortune (and her daughter Macy Ruth), Jonathan Fortune and Joshua Fortune all of Phoenix, AZ, Children of Jimme Ray Fortune, Jennifer Fortune (and her son Ryan James) of Wichita, Jacob Fortune of Sand Springs, OK, Jersey Fortune of Texas (and step-son Jordan Fortune of Texas) and step-daughter Briana Ross of Wichita, honorary daughter-in-laws, Brenda K. Newkirk of Wichita, Crystal Taylor of Sand Springs, OK, Brandy Fortune (deceased), brother, Lutrel Fortune of Derby, KS, sister, Claretta Stephens of Lahoma, OK and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Tues. April 28, 2015 from 6 to 8pm. Funeral services will be 2pm on Wed. April 29, 2015 both at Lakeview Funeral Home, 12100 E. 13th St. N., Wichita. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, Wichita. Memorials are going to help honor Jessie’s son, Johnnie Fortune, to relieve the medical expenses of a double lung transplant.
