Morgan MD, James I. peacefully passed on March 3, 2012, at the age of 83 from heart failure. He grew up on a cattle ranch five miles east of Leon, Ks. in Butler County. From a one-room school house, he proceeded to Leon High School, the University of Kansas, and finally to Northwestern Medical School in Chicago, where he became a Doctor. He married Harriet Cornwell while in medical school. He entered the Air Force and was stationed in Alaska and Austin Texas. He returned to Kansas and started a family medical practice with Rex Boyd in Wichita on South Seneca, and remained at the same location his entire career. In 1988, he was elected President of the Medical Society of Sedgwick County. He retired in 1999, but continued doing volunteer medical work at the Guadalupe Clinic. He was active with the YMCA and went to the downtown Y three times a week until shortly before his death. His love of running led to two marathons and created countless friendships. He was a long-standing member of the Westwood Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the Shrine and Royal Oder of Jesters, and played trumpet in the Shrine band. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Harriet C. Morgan. He leaves three children, Kathy M. Ruppert (Mike), David J. Morgan, and Mark A. Morgan (Pam). He leaves seven grandchildren: Lindsey Ruppert, Max Ruppert, Miles Morgan, Gage Morgan, Andrea Morgan, Davis Morgan, and Maddie Morgan. Visitation is Wednesday 6 to 8 pm at Resthaven Mortuary. Funeral service is 10:00 am Thursday, March 8 at Westwood Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Westwood Presbyterian Church.
