James D HINDMAN, age 80, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away the night of December 9th, 2020 at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Ks. He was born on May 12th, 1940 to his parents James F. Hindman and Edith B. Hindman in Weir, Ks.
James married his First wife, Mary Jane Hindman, in October of 1960. James then married his current wife, Janet Hindman, in May of 1990.
James always enjoyed having a good cup of coffee with his friends. He also
enjoyed working on cars like his old Green Chevy Pickup and his Candy Apple Red El
Camino. On a sunny afternoon, James could almost always be found fishing at either
the Medicine Lodge Lake or at a friend's pond. He enjoyed being outdoors, and in his
younger days he liked to go camping and hunting. Then, when the grandkids came to
visit, James could be seen riding bikes with them around Medicine Lodge and the lake.
James was an ornery individual and loved to pick on people with his quick wit. He
really enjoyed offering the grandkids trips to Fist City and like any good grandfather
would of course offer to treat them to a tasty knuckle sandwich. Everyone knew though
that when you saw his finger, then his thumb, the fist was next and you better run. Haha
James is preceded in death by his Father, James F. Hindman. Mother, Edith B.
(Smith) Hindman. Sister, Billie Jo Broughman, first Wife, Mary Jane Hindman. Daughter,
Theresa JoAnn (Hindman) Burns, and a Niece, Brenda Lee (Kruckenburg) Newman.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Janet Hindman of Wichita, Ks, are sister, Sharon
(Richard) Knoll of Enid, Ok., daughter, Kim (Kevin) Mathis of Wichita, Ks.,
step-daughter, Linda (Rick) Wyly of Wichita, Ks., step-son, Tony (Melody) Simon of
Blackwell, Ok., grandchildren, Brandi Mathis of Boston, Ma., Jessica Mathis of Rose
