James L. Breckenridge, beloved father, grandfather and brother, peacefully passed away on April 9, 2024, surrounded by family. Jim was born in Wichita, Kansas to John W. and Betty N. Breckenridge in December, 1946.
After graduating from high school, he joined the United States Navy in 1968, and very proudly served his country for 22 years. Jim saw the world, and the bottom of the ocean as a Submariner.
Jim was well known for his love of his family, his home, music, traveling and anything related to the ocean.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Michael O Breckenridge; and his wife of 25 years, Nancy K. Breckenridge.
Jim is survived by his children: Renee Breckenridge, James A. Breckenridge, Jeremy Schrader and James E Schrader (Marie); siblings: John Breckenridge and Karen Cross; grandchildren: Richard Hamm, Ashley Kappeler, Marlena Hamm, Justin Breckenridge, Andrew Schrader and David Schrader (Bailey); and great-grandchildren: Mackenzie, Ariana, Emily and Zoey.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 20, 2024, at 10:00 am at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 W. Hwy 54, Wichita, KS 67209 with interment to follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory in The Garden of Freedom, Lot 58A, Space 3.
