81, passed away following a four year battle with cancer. His will, hope, and strength persevered until the end. Jack was passionate about and excelled in his highway construction career. He was first employed with the State of Kansas Highway Department; then served as Superintendent for Ritchie Brothers Construction Company for 37 years until he retired. He was an active member of Ascension Lutheran Church. Jack was preceded by spouse, Donna Sue (Griffith) Nelson; father, Lloyd Nelson; mother, Ida Lee (Williams) Nelson; grandfather, Herbert Williams; grandmother, LaVirgie (Claire) Williams; and nephew, Rodney Lowe. He is survived by sister, Judith (Nelson) Lowe; daughter, Diana (Nelson) (Kevin) Anderson; grandchildren, Allison Kay (Anderson) (Andrew) Clark, Ellyn Kirsten Anderson, and Kevin Ethan Anderson; one niece and three nephews. Visitation 5-7 p.m. Monday, June 20, 2016 at Resthaven Mortuary and funeral service 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at Ascension Lutheran Church. Jack had a lifelong love for animals of all types. It began in early childhood in Macon, Missouri with horses. Jack especially loved dogs. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Saving Dogs 4 Paws at a Time, 8430 High BB, Huntsville, MO 65259. This organization mirrors Jack’s love for animals and is not supported by tax dollars or extra fees; and no administrative fees or salaries; 100 % goes to the animals. Volunteers give of their time for the benefit of animals in NE Missouri where Jack grew up.
