Parsons, Greta Sue 80, loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother, passed away May 6, 2018. She was born July 9, 1937, to Ralph O. and Ella Rae Landrith in Independence, KS. Greta embodied drive and determination in every aspect of her personal and professional life and active in many educational organizations. She could always be spotted at the side of her husband of 60 years and constant companion, Jim. They especially enjoyed antiquing and officiating track and field meets. She won the first Golden Apple School Award in Wichita USD 259 and in 1993 she was awarded the Kansas Elementary School Principal of the Year. She was passionate about her career as a principal and educator. She was an active member of Woodlawn United Methodist Church and the Red Hat Society. Greta was involved in the development of many community projects including the Derby Senior Center and Rock River Rapids Aquatic Park. Greta was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Don Landrith. She is survived by husband, Jim Parsons; daughter, Dr. Pamela (Dr. Bruce Cuevas) Parsons-Cuevas; grandchild, Daniel J. Cuevas. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, May 10th and Funeral service 10 a.m. Friday, May 11, 2018 both at Resthaven Mortuary.
