Gerald Hubert Hadsall, 1st child of Hubert John and Sadie Marie (Yocam) Hadsall, was born in Harper County, KS, near the town of Attica, on January 29, 1926. He grew up in this community and graduated from Attica High School in 1944. His extra-curricular activities included football, band (cornet) and numerous weekends at his father’s Champlin Gas Station in Attica, where he learned the fine art of hard work, organization, and treating the customer right.
He was drafted into the Army in August 1944 and was discharged in September 1946. During this time, he served in and around Naples, Italy as a firefighter for the Army Air Core and had reached the rank of Tech Sergeant. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he moved back to Attica, where he resumed working for his father’s gas station from 1946-1949. In 1950, he moved to Wichita, KS and was employed with the Cessna Aircraft Company as a tooling machinist, where he retired in 1990 after 40 years of dedicated service.
Gerald was a member of the Albert Pike and North Star Masonic Lodges, Scottish Rite and Midian Shrine, all of Wichita, KS.
On May 25, 1947, he was united in marriage to Alwilda E. Crouch, who passed away August 19, 1967. They had no children.
On July 4, 1975, he was united in marriage to Dai Thi Pham, whom he met while working as a civilian contractor during the Vietnam War. To this union was born one child, Marvin Van Hadsall.
He lived in the home he built in West Wichita, from 1963 up until his death in 2024.
His only child, Marvin and wife Amy live in Temple, TX and are the parents of four, bright and beautiful girls – Madeline (20), Olivia (19), Sophia (17) and Amelia (14).
Gerald is preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Norma Jean Anthony (her husband, Earl) and nephew, Dick Redding.
He is survived by wife, Dai Hadsall; son, Marvin Hadsall (Amy); grandchildren: Madeline, Olivia, Sophia and Amelia; niece, Linda and nephew, Kent (Cindy), along with their respective children & grandchildren, plus countless relatives and many, many friends.
A visitation for Gerald will be held Thursday, October 3, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM and a funeral service will occur Thursday, October 3, 2024 at 1:00 PM, both occurring at Resthaven Mortuary. A graveside service will immediately follow the service at Resthaven Gardens of Memory in the Acacia Lawn Garden, 11800 West Highway 54, Wichita, KS 67209.
