George W. Proctor, 91, passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at his home in Goddard, Kansas while being surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 26, 1931 in Winfield, Kansas, the son of Harold D. and Mary Esther (Wendell) Proctor.
George joined the U.S. Army when he turned 17 years of age where he was stationed in Germany where he was in charge of re-fueling the cannons where he then lost his ability to hear well. He then married the love of his life, Patricia Ann Greider while then three children were brought into this union, Robert (Deceased), Jerry, and Vicki. George worked at Boeing Company in Wichita, Kansas for numerous years, then he attended Wichita State University where he received his Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Education. George was a teacher, vice principal, and builder of many homes. "Bud" was also a past Mayor in the City of Goddard, Kansas which made him proud. Patricia passed away on October 16, 2010. After Patricia's passing, he was united in marriage to Klinell Hey of Coffeyville, KS on September 15, 2011 at the Nazarene Church in downtown Wichita, Kansas.
"Bud" or Wendell as many called him was a man of strong faith as he loved his lord, Jesus Christ. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend. Wendell will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Patricia; his newborn sister; his brothers, Bobby Proctor & Darold Proctor; his son, Robert Proctor; and his grandson, Eric Proctor.
He was survived by: his wife, Klinell Proctor of Goddard, KS; his children, Jerry (Sheri) Proctor of Goddard, KS, Vicki (Greg) Burgess of DeFuniak Springs, FL; his sister, Jeanie Shipley of Augusta, KS; his grandchildren, Jessie Proctor, Michael Proctor, Clinton Proctor, Michelle Hohman, Brian Proctor, Bailey McCormick, Madi Burgess, Shelby Thomas, and Debbie Proctor; 8 great-grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Memorial Service will be held 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 3, 2023 at The Goddard Church in Goddard, Kansas, with Pastor Jordan McFall officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date in a private family service.
Flowers are welcome and can be sent directly to The Goddard Church, and memorial donations can also be established in George's name to The Goddard Church in Goddard, Kansas.
