George began his ministry in Mount Olive, Mississippi in 1962 and served at various churches until his retirement from Bethany Presbyterian Church in 2003. Along his journey of service, he was a missionary to Brazil, he received his Master of Divinity from Columbia Theological Seminary and his Doctor of Ministry from McCormick Theological Seminary. He served as police chaplain for Wichita Police Department. What he is most proud of was his military service. He retired as Lieutenant Colonel. He enjoyed his friendships made within the Military Officers Association (MOAA).
He was preceded in death by his parents; Fred L. Boone and Ruth E. Boone.
George’s legacy of kindness will be continued by his children, Daniel Boone (Carol), Julia Boone Alexander (Larry Alexander) and Georgia Boone; grandchildren, Cassandra Swenson (Neil), Miranda Haefele (Nathan), Daniel M. Boone, Christina Hibarger (Kelly), Jillian Clough (Eric Sunderland), Melinda Blank (Linden) and Patrick Clough (Marcela); with 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren due in April 2022.
A visitation will be available from 1:00pm to 2:45pm, Wednesday, December 22, 2021 inside Resthaven Mortuary. Following the visitation will be the graveside service 3:00pm, at Resthaven's Cemetery in the Garden Of Bruce Newton with Military Funeral Honors, 11800 W. Highway 54, Wichita, Kansas 67209.
