Gary Wayne McClellan

McClellan, Gary Wayne, 67, retired from the Wichita Clinic and Boeing Aircraft, passed away on September 20, 2013. He was an accomplished drummer and percussionist. He performed with the Fort Hays State marching and Concert Bands. He was selected as a member of the Lions Kansas State band and performed at the Lions International in Toronto, Canada in 1964. He was a fifteen year member of the Cessna Jazz Band as well as a member of the Joyful Sound at Pilgrim Congregational. He was a member of a rock band while attending college at Fort Hays. He sang with the Wichita Choral Society and Wichita Symphony Chorus. Gary was an avid sports fan. He is preceded in death by parents Wayne and Lorene McClellan and brother Larry Eugene McClellan. He is survived by his wife, Susan whom he married on June 7, 1969 at Partridge Community Church; daughter Melinda (David) Carpenter; son James (Desiree) McClellan; sister Linda (Bob) Sears; grandchildren Alexander and Christopher Carpenter and Gavin McClellan; nieces Terri Jones and Michelle Sears; and great nephew Landon Jones. Memorials can be made to Pilgrim Congregational Church. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at 1pm at Pilgrim Congregational Church.
