1920 – 2017
Our wonderful father passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 17, 2017 in Wichita, Kansas after taking a nasty fall in January. He was born to Lyman J. and Edith Marks Cook in Omaha, Nebraska in 1920. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1942 and served in England, France and Germany during World War II. He married the love of his life, Lois Connet of Omaha, Nebraska and they raised five daughters together. Dad and Mom spent most of their life together in Wichita, where Dad worked as a pharmaceutical representative. They loved to travel, he on his bike and she with her camera. When Mom became ill, he took care of her so she could stay at home.
Dad loved to follow the financial markets and current events. He read the local newspaper, several magazines and never missed an issue of the Wall Street Journal. He loved to tell stories and had an amazing memory, often telling stories of his life, or embarrassing stories about his children. He was very proud of his five happy, successfully launched daughters. He was a generous man who supported many causes including the Humane Society, The Lord’s Diner and women’s issues.
Preceded in death by his wife Lois, his parents, and his brother A. Lyman Cook. Survived by his children Paula Eppler, Susan Van Petten, Kathleen Krob, Lynne Wilhelmsen and Mary Cook, four grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren. At his request, no public services will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions in Everett’s memory to the charity of your choice.
Arrangements under the direction of Devorss Flanagan-Hunt Mortuary, Wichita, KS.
