Evelyn was born August 20, 1936 in Carthage, Missouri, a daughter of James A. and Clara Bell (Pummel) Catron. She was united in marriage to James Steven McElroy on December 22nd, 1951 in Huntington, Long Island, New York and to this union four children were born, James Jr., Robert, Donald, and David.
Evelyn enjoyed doing ceramics, working on different arts and crafts, planting and watching flowers grow, and was a women of faith that enjoyed going to church at Westside Nazarene Church in Wichita, KS.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 71 years, James; children James Jr. (Mary), Robert (Janet), Donald (Kelly), David (Bonnie); 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
No public viewing will be held.
Graveside Service will be held 3:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, 11800 West 54 Highway, Wichita, Kansas with Celebrant Sharen Dare officiating.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial in Evelyn's name may be made out to Phoenix Home Care & Hospice, 3450 N. Rock Road, Bldg 200, Suite 213, Wichita, Kansas 67226.
