Willis, Ellen Frances, 90, passed away on October 13, 2014. She was born February 7, 1924, in Parsons, Kansas. Ellen is survived by her husband Richard. They celebrated seventy-two years of marriage this past September. Her love for Richard and her family was the core of her life. Ellen was preceded by her parents, Owen and Grace Pargen of Parsons, and an infant brother Joseph. In addition to her husband Richard, Ellen is survived by sons Jeffrey (Barbara) Willis of Wichita, and Gregory (Pamela) Willis of Hoisington; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Ellen was an accomplished pianist. After graduating from High School, she earned an Associate’s Degree in Business from Parsons Junior College in 1947. During Richard’s service in the army in WWII, Ellen assisted in the war effort, working as a secretary to the post engineer at Ft. Bragg in North Carolina and later while Richard was overseas, she worked as a Timekeeper at the Kansas Ordinance Plant in Parsons. She was a member of Women’s Christian Society of the United Methodist Church, was active in PTA and Cub Scouts. She served on the Johnson County Election Board for twenty-five years. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 18, at Lakeview Funeral Home, 12100 East 13th Street North in Wichita, Kansas.
