The family consisted of 8 girls and 2 boys. She lived on the family farm until she moved to Wichita in 1942 at the age of 21. During WWII she worked at the Coleman Company to support the war effort. After the War she went to work for Beach Aircraft where she retired after more than 35 years of service. While working at Beach, Dottie met her husband of nearly 60 years, Edward “Gene” Sullivan. They were married in February of 1957. Dottie and Gene spent many happy years in retirement prior to his death in 2016. They were both very caring, always helping family, friends, and neighbors in need. One of Dottie’s favorite hobbies was working outside on her lawn and garden. She always took great pride in having one of the nicest lawns in the neighborhood. In 2017, Dottie moved to Derby to live with her niece and niece’s husband, Peggy and Merle Shoemaker. Dottie attended Praise Assembly church in Derby, KS and enjoyed decorating and preparing food for the Women’s Missionary meetings.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews.
"Dottie" was preceded in death by her husband Edward "Gene" Sullivan; father Roy Wigelsworth and mother Zona Vandiver-Wigelsworth; brothers Harold , and Roy Jr ; sisters Clova, Louise, Estaleen, Delores, Geraldine, Cleda, and Marjorie.
A Celebration of Life Service for "Dottie" will be held Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Lakeview Funeral Home Chapel, 12100 E 13TH ST N, Wichita, KS 67206.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Praise Assembly of God church, 1125 S. Rock Rd., Derby, KS 67037.
