Hobbs, Dorothy Elizabeth, 89, homemaker, passed away December 27, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wichita Fire Chief Floyd E. Hobbs; son, Steven J. Hobbs and brothers Eugene and Jack McDonald. Her memory is cherished by her daughter, Deanna Trapp (Jim); daughter-in-law, Nancy Mullen (Roy); grandchildren, Stephanie Melius (Philip), Lora Simms (Doug), Leslie Hunt (B.J.), Sabrina Garding (Chris), Chad Mullen (Kerri), Marleah Mullen; great-grandchildren, Mikolas, Marshal, Lydia, Wesley, Gillian, Keane, Xander; sisters, Neva Lynn Kelsey and Edna Lee (Dean) Ayers. Dorothy lived a life of giving to her family and community. She was the devoted, elegant lady by her husband’s side for 55 years, volunteered for over 20 years as an Arthritis Foundation water exercise instructor, was a founding 59ers Extension Homemakers Unit member and served the Wichita Firefighters Ladies Auxiliary, Eastern Star and West Side Christian Church. Visitation will be 12 p.m. and memorial service 1 p.m. Thursday, January 6, 2011 at West Side Christian Church, 1819 W. Douglas. Graveside service will follow at Resthaven Mortuary. Memorials may be sent to the Kansas Arthritis Foundation.
