Dorothy M. Helvie, age 97 passed away on Monday, January 17, 2022. She was born September 14, 1924 to John and Ollie (Nichols) Fairchild in Eufaula, Oklahoma. Dorothy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother and friend who will be dearly missed by many.
Dorothy worked at Beech Aircraft in the bindery department for many years. She enjoyed dancing, gardening and traveling. Dorothy was a devout member at the West Side Church of God where she enjoyed quilting and helped with Sunday School. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Roy Brown; second husband, Ferrin Helvie; and 6 siblings.
Dorothy is survived by her son, John (Vicki) Brown; daughter, Kay (David) Stapleton; sister, Mary Russell; grandchildren, Debbie (Andy) Erwin, Ronnie Brown, Dion (Patty) Stapleton, Jason Stapleton (Paola Davis) and Shanda Stapleton; great grandchildren, Amanda (Kenny) Butler, Johnathan Erwin, Noah Stapleton, Joshua Stapleton and David Stapleton; great-great grandchildren, Jakoby Butler, Crosby Butler and Magnolia Butler; and numerous step-children, nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be from 11:00am to 1:00pm, Monday, January 24th, with Funeral service at 1:00pm, both at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 W. Highway 54, Wichita, Kansas 67209. Interment will follow the service at Resthaven Cemetery in the Garden of Sermon on The Mount.
