Dorothea grew up in Wilmette, Illinois. She attended Eastern Illinois University. In 1982, Dorothea and Bob Adams were married at the Courthouse in Wichita, Kansas. He preceded her in death in 2000. Dorothea raised her 7 children, worked as a retail associate, provided in-home childcare for dear friends, and was a volunteer for the gift shop at the Catholic Care Center in Bel-Aire for over 17 years. She devoted her life to her family, and her faith. Dorothea was a member of Church of the Resurrection, and participated in the choir for many years.
Dorothea is survived by her seven children James Lynch (Cindy), Mike Lynch (Barbara), Jean Thompson, Elizabeth “Libby” Lynch, Catherine “Cathy” Rinner (Jim), Paul Lynch, and Mark Lynch (Linda); a sister, Mary Harrell (Gene); 21 grandchildren Matt Lynch (Mallory), James Lynch, Kellen Lynch (Kelly), Amy Lynch, Jennifer Varney (Zachariah), Dave Lynch, Elizabeth “Liz” Lynch, John Thompson (Stephanie), Jasmine Thompson, Jessica Thompson, Jordan McCan (Travis), Hayden Rinner (Carolyn), Cole Rinner (Robyn Fishman), Paul Lynch Jr. (Lauren), Isabel Miller (Shawn), Arianna Lynch, Gabe Lynch, Adam “A.J.” Lynch, Rachel Lynch, Margaret Lynch, Suzanne “Susie” Lynch; and 12 great-children Ada Thompson, Colton Rowe, Wyatt Lynch, Conner Lynch, Jacquelyne Lynch, Jaxon Thompson, William “Liam” McCan, Eliana Thompson, Boden Bennett, Shawn Miller Jr, Catarina Miller, Rosie Miller, and Ronin Miller.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sibling, Fred Dietz and great-grandson Leo McCan.
A Visitation for Dorothea will be held Monday, February 5, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Lakeview Funeral Home & Cemetery, 12100 E 13Th St N, Wichita, Kansas 67206, followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dorothea's memory may be made to Kansas Humane Society, 3313 N Hillside St, Wichita, Kansas 67219 US.
