Dianna O'Brien Dianna “Diane” Jeanne O’Brien, 70, peacefully passed on Wednesday October 18, 2017 at her home in Wichita, KS. Diane, the daughter of Henry and Norma Clark Swartz, was born in Great Bend on December 11, 1946. Diane was the beloved wife of Stanley “Stan” J. O’Brien and mother of Melanie Melander (Brent), Aaron O’Brien (Vanessa), Amanda Bair (Robert), Sean O’Brien, and Corey O’Brien (Barry). Dianna was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Cynthia Seltmann. In addition to her husband and children, survivors include: two brothers, Edward Swartz and Steve Swartz; two sisters, Susan Bailey and Patti Johnson; five grandchildren, two great grandchildren and many other family members.
Diane graduated Alexander High School in 1964 and later attended Fort Hays State University. She married Stan O'Brien on July 17, 1965 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ness City, KS. She was a woman of faith and a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Diane worked as a special education paraprofessional for 17 years at U.S.D. No. 259 at the Chisholm Trail Elementary School.
Diane was an extraordinary cook and welcomed many friends and family to her home. Diane loved genealogy, reading, and traveling. She was a firecracker with a witty spirit that would keep you on your toes. Even greater than her wit, was her love for her family.
A Rosary will be held 6 pm Thursday, October 19th and Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday, October 20, 2017 both at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Inurnment will be at a later date at St John the Baptist Cemetery in Bazine, KS. Memorials are suggested to St. John the Baptist Cemetery or Blessed Sacrament St. Vincent De Paul Society in c/o Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 W. Hwy 54, Wichita, KS 67209. The family would like to thank Heartland Home Health and Hospice, other caregivers, family and friends for their support throughout this time.
