David Leo Heiser

David Leo Heiser was born on February 23, 1949 in Anthony, Kansas. He was the middle child of five siblings. His family moved to Independence, Missouri prior to his senior year. He attended William Chrisman High School and graduated in May 67.

He is survived by his wife, Christine Heiser, his sister, Christine O'Day, brothers, Michael Heiser and Patrick Heiser. His parents, Genevieve Lucille Hoath and Leo Heiser along with his sisters, Vicki Schommer and Katherine Tucker preceded him in death.

Dave had been raised in the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints now known as the Community of Christ Church. He had decided after graduating from High School to attend his church's college in Lamoni, Iowa (Graceland College) for one year. In the Spring of his Freshman year he met his wife Christine. They quickly fell in love. Dave transferred to Central Missouri State College. He majored in Education with teaching degree in Industrial Arts.

On May 29, 1971 Christine and Dave were married in Independence, MO. They initially lived in Independence, MO. In the Fall of 1971 he was inducted in the Air Force. His first assignment was Denver, CO where he went through training at Lowery AFB. His next assignment was the Philippines at Clark AFB. His wife was unable to join him. He was there for 15 months. Dave and Chris met in Hawaii midway between his time there.

Dave loved camping and traveling to various places. He obtained a Private Pilot's license; and he loved flying, snow skiing, water skiing and flying remote control airplanes. After his time in the Philippines he was transferred to Minot, ND for 6 months and then to Denver, CO. They continued living in Colorado for the next 45 years until moving to Wichita in April of 2021. Their children were always fur babies. He loved his dogs, Bonnie and Lacey.

Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, 10:30 a.m.November 18, 2023 at Community of Christ Church, 3500 S. Webb Road, Wichita, KS 67210. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with the church.
