David graduated from Kansas State University in 1982. He worked for the Kansas Department of Corrections as a parole officer for 33 years. He was a dedicated employee and his legacy of hard work and tireless service was appreciated. David's years, though all too short, were full of life, love, and constant concern for others. He always had time for everyone he met while walking Penny; he loved to stop and visit about any topic that came to mind. He was an amazing man, and his loss is felt deeply by anyone that knew him.
He loved life; he was the most kind, gentle, and honest man you’d ever know. He was a man of few words, except after enjoying some wine, when his sharp wit would have everyone around him laughing. David was a lifelong Kansas State sports fan and loved rooting on the Wildcats. He also enjoyed extensive travel home and abroad, wine, and time with friends and family.
David is survived by his husband and life partner of 35 years, Lynn Hutchinson, their two dogs Penny and Pepper, and his Aunt Joan (Dale Nordstrom) and family. Also mourning his loss are numerous friends and family including the Allred family: Brent, Julie, Logan (Eileen), Macy (Alex), and Nora, Tony Hutchinson (Carol) and family, the Tejedas, his The Courtyards at Estancia family (you know who you are), his brother JR Evans (Kathy), and other nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will take place on May 27, 2023 from 2-5 p.m. at the Estancia Neighborhood Clubhouse, 3999 N. Solano, Wichita, KS 67205. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to:
