Britton, Jr., Lieutenant Colonel (RET) David R., 89, passed away peacefully Oct. 25, 2011 surrounded by family. David was born September 1, 1922 in Columbus, KS. He grew up in Wichita, graduating from North High School before serving our country in WWII. After serving 35 years, he retired from the Air Force in 1977 as Assistant Chief of Maintenance at the Kansas Air National Guard. He was an avid amateur radio operator, known to many over the airwaves as WOTSX, and a longtime member of the Kadiddlehoppers and ARRL. He was also a loyal supporter of Wichita State University athletics. David was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie, brothers John Frank and Donald Steele and grandson James Moore, Jr. Survivors are son James Moore; sister Edith Stamm; granddaughters Jana (Rodney) Price and Kathi Moore; great grandchildren Bobby, Brian, Julia Moore and Lauren Price all of Wichita; 6 nieces and nephews and 22 great nieces and nephews. Funeral service is 10:00 am Saturday, Oct. 29 at Resthaven Mortuary. Memorial in lieu of flowers may be sent to VFW, 4801 W. Douglas, Wichita, KS 67209.
