Daniel "Dan" C. Stephens

Dan was born February 1, 1954 in Howard Elk County, Kansas, a son of Gene Dale and Menzenita Ruth (Houser) Stephens. He attended Wichita High Schools, then later attended Kansas State University where he majored with a Bachelor Degree in Horticulture.

Dan was an avid green thumb as he enjoyed growing different plants including cherry tomatoes, pepper plants, morning glories as far as a variety of trees and bushes. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed being outside as much as he could. Dan enjoyed comedy movies, stand-ups, sitcom’s and his famous line was “there’s no such thing as an inappropriate joke, only a comedian with inappropriate timing.” Dan was a huge pet lover as he watched out and took care of neighborhood animals ranging from squirrels, dogs, cats, turtles, and even to red-tail and albino hawks.

Dan was a devoted father, loving grandpa, and friend to many.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Denise Steven; his first wife Jayne Stephens; brother-in-law Chuck Steven along with his life-long best friend, Bruce Northcutt.

He is survived by his children; Chance Stephens and Sierra Leach - Dent; his sister Sandra Demming; his grandchildren PFC Kristofer Stephens, Levi Dent, Gregory Leach and Zoey Stephens; his ex-wife Sheryl Stephens (Guinn); along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Per Dan’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Inurnment will be held at Gracelawn Cemetery in Howard, Elk County, Kansas at the Stephen’s family plot.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial in Dan's name may be made out to Botanica, The Wichita Gardens due to his love of nature.
