Preceded in death by his parents Lynford L. Barnes, Neva A. Barnes and his loving wife Anita J. Barnes.
Dale Graduated Friends University with a Bachelor of Arts degree and received a Master of Arts Degree in Communication from Wichita State University.
Dale used his communication degree by writing, producing and directing film and video projects for The Boeing Company, The Agency inc., Traeger Advertising as well as independent work.
Dale and his wife Anita began volunteering at Old Cowtown Museum in 1993. They were a part of Entre Nous Victorian Dancers. Dale portrayed several characters, the most memorable was Zeke who was beloved by young and old. Dale was instrumental in helping to bring back the historically accurate gun fight reenactments.
After the passing of his wife Anita, Dale continued freelance work and volunteering at Old Cowtown Museum. Dale became interested in horses and learned to drive the wagon and stagecoach. Dale spent many Christmas seasons driving a wagon for Bradley Fair in Wichita.
In 2011 Dale accepted the job of teamster and cowboy at Cowtown. Due to health concerns, Dale stepped away from Old Cowtown Museum in 2018. In his 25 years of dedication, he touched the lives of countless volunteers, staff and visitors.
Dale is survived by his brother Terry, cousins and many close friends.
A visitation for Dale will be held Sunday, March 5, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at DeVorss Flanagan-Hunt Mortuary, 201 South Hydraulic, Wichita, KS 67211. A graveside service will occur Monday, March 6, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at White Chapel Cemetery, 1806 N. Oliver Ave., Wichita, KS 67208.
