In 1990, Chris started his law enforcement career with the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office working in jail operations. He married Emily Jane Darland on December 18, 1992. During their 31-year marriage they were blessed with three children. Chris and Emily moved to Wichita, Kansas in 1995 to start his career with the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office. Chris was employed there for nearly 29 years and attained the rank of corporal. Chris also received a bachelor’s degree in business and organizational management from Friends University.
During his off time, Chris enjoyed volunteering for the “Doc” B-29 Superfortress program. He donated many hours of his time to giving tours and educating the public on the history of the aircraft. He was an avid researcher of military history. Chris also had interests in family ancestry, NASA, world history, Star Wars, going to Disney with his family and was a lifelong Kansas City Chiefs fan.
Chris is preceded in death by his father, C.V. Carlton “Papa”, his beloved dog Buzz and his grand pup, Ella.
Chris is survived by his wife, Emily; daughters Courtney (Jon) Debano and Hayley; son Caleb; mother Paula Carlton; sisters Sherri Daley and Nicki Meadors; many nieces and nephews; and his grand pets Jessie, Bonnie and Pat “Stinky Boy”.
Visitation with his family will be held from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at Resthaven Mortuary.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 West Highway 54, Wichita, Kansas 67209. Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, Garden of Meditation, Wichita.
