Charlotte Ione (Smith) Loveland, age 86, passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2022. Charlotte was born April 3, 1936, to Curtis and Iris (Stewart) Smith in Alhambra, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband, Robert Loveland, in 2015. Charlotte was the oldest of 6 children. Preceded in death by her siblings; Loren “Butch” Smith, Marvin Smith, John Smith, Michael Perkins, and Cheryl Selenke. She was a devoted wife, mother, mema, sister, aunt and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Charlotte was an incredible artist, quilter, painter as well as, many other creative endeavors. After completing her Master’s degree, she began teaching middle school art at age 42. She taught high school until her retirement from USD259 in 1998. She joined the WSU faculty and taught art education to aspiring teachers until 2006. She was a member of Hillside Christian Church and was involved in many groups volunteering her time and creativity. Retiring gave her time for quilting and grandkids. She gifted each person in the family a quilt which are treasured.
Charlotte is survived by her son, Michael (Lynn) Loveland; daughters, Candece Loveland Bradford and Debra (Kurt) Holmes; grandchildren, Courtney Holmes, Garrett (Lauren) Holmes, Matthew Loveland, and Lindsey Loveland; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5:00pm to 7:30pm, Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at Lakeview Funeral Home, 12100 E. 13th, Wichita, KS 67206.
Funeral Service will be held 2:00pm, Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at Hillside Christian Church, 8330 E. Douglas, Wichita, KS 67206. Burial following the service at Lakeview Cemetery.
