Charles W. Merrill

Charles was born in Furley, Kansas and had three sisters, Bonnie, Margaret, and Judy. When he was 17, he left home and moved to Whitewater, Kansas to attend high school. He lived in an apartment and worked at the mill. One year later, he met Virginia at school, and after a short courtship, they married on December 15, 1945. His beloved wife of 70 years passed away on January 23, 2015. Charles is survived by three of their four children: Charles J, Vicky and Nancy: five grandchildren, Joy, Chad, Shannon, Heather and Cory: and 4 great-grandchildren. He and Virginia spent their last years together at Presbyterian Manor where they moved after 60 years in their home in Wichita. Charles just celebrated his 90th birthday and enjoyed reminiscing at his party. January 6, 2018 The burial will be at 12:30pm (immediate family) Lakeview Cemetery 12100 E. 13th St. Wichita, KS 6 7206 A funeral service and light reception will be held for all friends and family at 3:00pm Presbyterian Manor - chapel 4700 W. 13th Wichita, KS 67212 In lieu of flowers, there will be a basket for donations for the nursing staff that cared for him at Presbyterian Manor.
