McBride, Charles Robert “Tarry”, 83, passed away on February 27, 2016. He was born in Wichita, Kansas, to James G, McBride and Kathleen Hodges McBride. Charles graduated from Wichita East High School in the class of 1950. He was a member of Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, graduating with a BS degree in Industrial Engineering. Charles was employed by IBM in Chicago, Illinois and Wichita for 32 years, where he attained twenty-nine 100% Clubs and eighteen Golden Circles. After retiring from IBM, he was appointed Associate Director of the WSU Institute for Aviation Research. Charles was a long-time member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church, past member of Downtown Kiwanis Club, and past president of Crestview Country Club, where he was instrumental in building the tennis complex and the completion of the South Course back nine holes. He tutored GED students in math, and helped with the Junior Golf program at MacDonald Park. Proceeded in death by his parents, sister, Marilyn McBride Farley, and brother James F. McBride. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Nancy, son Charles, Jr. (Kerry) of Ocean Hills, CA, daughter Ellen Hickox (Paul) of Kansas City, KS, daughter Marilyn Janes (Greg) of Portland, OR, son James (Diane) of Austin, TX, 16 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren, brother John D. McBride of Wichita, KS, and sisters Kathleen Hall of Lecompton, KS and Nancy Stewart of Tyler, TX. Memorials have been established with Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 1958 N. Webb, Wichita, KS 67206, and the Salvation Army. The memorial service will be held Friday, March 11, 2016, 11a.m at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 1958 N. Webb Rd., Wichita.
