CARR, Charles William, 90, beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away peacefully on the 16th of May 2015. He was born to Albert and Ida Carr on the 15th of Oct. 1924, in Selma, KS. Charles and Mary D. “Mimi” Carr were united in marriage on the 22nd of April 1944 in Norfolk, Virginia. Together they celebrated 65 years of marriage before her passing in 2009. Charles served in the United States Navy during World War II. Charles attended Wichita State University and was employed at Boeing Aircraft Company for 43 years and in multiple management positions for over 30 years. Charles was a member of the Boeing Management Club and Boeing Retirees Club. Charles coached Biddy Basketball teams for over 14 years and was inducted into the Biddy Basketball Hall of Fame. He coached Babe Ruth Baseball teams for over 10 years. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Andover for 56 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mary, stepmother, Gladys (Clark), brothers, Theodore C. Carr, Albert Eugene Carr, sisters, Carol Jean Smith and Shirley Ann Carr, grandson, Joseph Wayne Colchin. Survivors include his loving children, Sharon Rae (Don) Colchin of Houston, TX, Randy (Pat) Carr of Douglass, KS, Brad (Vicki) Carr of Lewisville, NC, sisters, Ruth (Bob) Curless of Haysville, KS, Mary Ellen (Mark) Vollmar of Phoenix, AZ, grandsons, Jason Carr, Jeremy (Kristie) Carr, Joshua Carr, granddaughters, Rosalyn (Mark) House, Mary (Chad) Turner, Jennifer (Gregg) Talkington, Aubrey (Kevin) Wendelboe, Meredith (Jordan) Newton, great-grandchildren, Jordahn Talkington, Alexus Talkington, Emerson Talkington, Leah Carr, Mason Carr, Caroline House, Lily House, Claire Turner, Blaine Turner, Charlie Turner, Avery Wendelboe, Camryn Wendelboe, Victoria Wendelboe, Nicholas Wendelboe, Bradley Newton, Lyla Newton, Raleigh Newton. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, Tuesday, the 19th of May, in the Chapel of Lakeview Funeral Home, 12100 E. 13th St. N., Wichita. Funeral services are to be conducted 11am on Wednesday, the 20th of May, Andover United Methodist Church, 1429 N. Andover Rd., Andover. Rev. Jim Edwards will officiate. The Rite of Committal is to follow at Andover Cemetery, Andover, KS. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his name and loving memory to the Andover United Methodist Church.
