Charlene was born in Anthony, Kansas to Leonard and Permelia Downing on October 12, 1931. Charlene married Fred Arasmith on June 22, 1957 in Wichita, Kansas. Charlene worked as an Executive Secretary at Beech Aircraft for 30+ years. Fred and Charlene are longtime members of Countryside Christian Church, Wichita, Kansas.
Charlene is survived by her loving husband, Fred Arasmith. Children: Carrie Kester from Wichita, KS and Garry Arasmith from Dallas, TX. Grandchildren: Clint Arasmith, Jami (Arasmith) Glenn from Springfield, MO and Zachary Kester, Joshua Kester from Wichita, KS. Great grandchildren: Lily Glenn and Ella Glenn also from Springfield, MO.
Charlene’s life can be summed up in 3 words: God, Family, Friends. She loved God and served him daily. She loved and was loved by her family and friends.
Our family gathered this week to celebrate her life and tell stories of life with “grandma”. Some stories we’d all heard before and some were brand new. Stories of travel and games. Stories of laughter and joy. Stories of church friends and church events. Charlene made an impact on us all and will forever be remembered in our hearts.
A Come & Go visitation will be available from 3pm-5pm, Friday, August 14th, at Resthaven Mortuary. Funeral Service will be held 2pm, Saturday, August 15, at Countryside Christian Church with burial to follow, at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
