Carol Jean Williams (née Becker) passed away peacefully on October 8th, 2022, in Wichita, Kansas, at the age of 72. Carol was born on October 6th, 1950, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Doyle and Luella Becker. She met George Williams in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, through mutual friends, and they married on January 3rd, 1970. They welcomed three children, Amy, Jason, and Sara. Carol graduated from Amarillo College with a degree in nursing and had a long and fulfilling career as an RN.
Carol will be remembered for her generosity, her strength of spirit, and her wicked sense of humor. She was passionate about the Arizona Cardinals and taking care of people, which she was always able to do as a mom, grandma, and hospice nurse. She always loved feeding friends, family, and nearby birds, and she never shied away from a fight or a good time. She never lost her smile, even in the face of her greatest challenges, and she will be remembered with love and laughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her older brother, Don, and her grandson, William, as well as her best four-legged friend, Dash. She is survived by a loud and boisterous family including George, her husband of 52 years, her three children, Amy (Nate), Jason (Sarah), and Sara (Carlos), 10 grandchildren, her younger brother, Dave (Lisa), and many, many treasured friends and loved ones.
A memorial service will be held at Hillside Funeral Home West on Monday, October 17 at 3:00pm with celebration to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Carol’s extraordinary life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice or Wichita Animal Action League. The family requests that anyone who knew Carol submit their favorite stories and memories to be shared at her service. The family would like to thank the staff at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, Ascension Living Via Christi Village-Broadmoor, and Ascension Living Via Christi Village-McLean for their dedication to her care.
