Carl Raymond Young, born April 10, 1918 in Karvel, Colorado passed peacefully December 31, 2020, in Wichita, Kansas, at the age of 102. He lived most of his life in Mound City, Missouri, where he was an active member of the community. He moved to Wichita, Kansas, in 1993. Carl belonged to the Christian Church where he served on the Board and sang in the choir during most of those years. He also served on the school Board for a period of time. Carl was a Veteran of WWII where he served as a Sargent. He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge in Mound City. After returning from the war, Carl worked most of his adult life as the Shop Foreman for Ideker Ford Motor Co. of Mound City, Missouri.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Christian and Lydia Young; his wives, Lena Dell Young and Betty Young; one son, Chris Carter Young; three brothers, Emil, Edward and August Young; and six sisters; Joan McClure, Maggie Miller, Katie Taylor, Ruby Montgomery, Jean Harrison and Evelyn Sitherwood. He is survived by many nieces and nephews. He is survived by his daughter, Dianne Young Huffman (Calvin); two grandsons, Dr. Todd Huffman (Noreen) and Troy Huffman (Theresa); two great-grandsons, Matt and Will; also surviving are two step-children, Steve (Billie) Brunk and Sharon Dennison.
Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
