Carl A. Van Dorn, age 86, of Mulvane, Kansas, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Friday, November 8, 2024. He was born December 17, 1937 in Lamar, Missouri and was the sixth of seven children born to Harry and Hazel (Corben) Van Dorn.
He graduated from Liberal High School (Liberal, MO) in 1956 and worked for Woolworth in Pittsburg & Arkansas City, Kansas then managed TG&Y stores in Wichita and Mulvane, Kansas. Carl also worked as an independent trash collector and landscaper in Mulvane and ended his working career after 40 years working in the Tooling department at Beech Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas.
Carl married Margaret Bogart on July 16, 1961, in Joplin, MO. They were married for 63 years and had three children.
Carl is survived by his wife and children: Douglas (Candance) of Great Falls, MT, Sheryl (Stephen) Wolf of Derby, KS, Denise Van Dorn of Mulvane, KS and sister, Marie Crank of Hutchinson, KS. Carl is also survived by seven grandchildren: Jacob, Karen (Heath), Joshua, Aerica (Steve), Paige (Covington), Samuel, and Matthew; five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Harry Lee, William, Richard and Edwin Van Dorn; a sister, Virginia Turner; and a grandson, Kyle Van Dorn.
The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm. Services will be held on November 14, 2024 at 1:00 pm with a Masonic Funeral at graveside following in the Garden of Acacia Lawn. Visitation and Services will be held at Resthaven Mortuary and Gardens of Memory 11800 West Kellogg, Wichita, Kansas 67209.
In lieu of flowers, Carl’s wish was that donations be considered for the Midian Shrine Plane of Mercy, 130 N. Topeka, Wichita, KS, 67202.
