Buford was born September 23, 1929 to Claude and Nellie Blythe in Golden, Missouri.
He is survived by his wife Shirley and his children Benda Petersons of Olathe, KS, Alicia Guinn (Alan) of Tulsa, OK, and Damon Blythe (Jane) of Frisco, TX. 5 Grandchildren, Tabor, Kira, Darian, Raela and Trent.
Buford served in the Air Force from August 1950 to July 1954 where he was stationed at Orly Air Force Base in Paris, France during the Korean War. Upon discharge from the Air Force, Buford attended Central Christian College in Bartlesville, Oklahoma where he met Shirley, his wife of 62 years. Buford owned a successful insurance business, Blythe Insurance Agency for 60 years. It was one of the largest independent agencies in the state of Kansas and parts of Florida.
He was known for his sense of humor, telling jokes and being a friend to all. Buford had a passion for God, family and friends and had a strong Christian faith as he was a Deacon and active member of East Point Church of Christ for over 45 years. Buford enjoyed spending time with family and friends, reading, traveling the world and cheering on the Wichita State Shockers. He will be greatly missed.
