Brent’s passion for cars began at an early age, leading him to later work in the field of automotive repair and eventually take the leap into business ownership. In 1985, Brent opened his own shop, BC Auto Repair. Brent’s talents translated to anything on wheels. He was always willing to troubleshoot issues, help a family member or neighbor to the shop in need, or find the best hot rod custom part on the market. Through much of his career he was able to work alongside his oldest son, Chad, and later his grandson-in-law, Joseph, with his youngest son, Todd, working in a leadership role within the auto industry. An intuitive understanding of and interest in the automotive field truly became a family affair—leaving a mark on his boys’ hearts that will never fade.
Brent married the love of his life, Jennifer, in 1996. He loved to dote on Jennifer to anyone and everyone around. Those fortunate enough to know her will say she deserved every bit of it and Brent would certainly agree. To some, Brent had a gruff exterior but to many, he was soft to the core. His big belly laughs, usually at the expense of others, and infectious smile will be missed.
Brent lived a life full of hobbies and interests. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his motorcycle, often spending his weekends boating at Kaw Lake or in his younger days, racing his drag truck at the track—where everyone knows, “BC”.
Brent is survived by his wife, Jennifer (Ternes) Coats; children, Chad (Olivia) Coats and Todd (Cristin) Coats; six grandchildren, Kaelin Coats (Joseph Torres), Tobias Coats, Brooke Coats, Elias Coats, Eva Coats and Enzo Coats; great-grandchild, Xavier Torres; mother, Polly Kaul; brothers, Brad (Tasha) Coats, Tom (Chris) Coats, and Joe (Penny) Solomon; sisters, Misty (Todd) Ryn and Beth (TC) Solomon Blansit; brother-in-law, Don (Eileen) Ternes; and many nieces and nephews.
