Bonnie Jean Johnson

73, passed away Friday, February 12, 2016 after a courageous struggle with ALS. Bonnie was born in Parsons, KS on November 24, 1942. She was raised in Baxter Springs, KS, graduated from Pittsburg State University, and moved to Wichita in 1963. She taught math in Wichita and other states with a break for raising 3 children. She retired from teaching at South High School in 2004. In 1984, she married her present husband of 32 years. They spent their years being avid country dancers. Bonnie taught dancing classes and they traveled to line dancing workshops around the country. She is preceded in death by parents Archie and Lillian Brock and step grandson Jeremiah Kregger. Bonnie is survived by husband, Spencer Johnson, children, Stacey and (Carol) Wespi, Jeremy Wespi and Tiffany Gomez, step children Angela Hamm, Robin and Lance Johnson, 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Viewing will be held from 5-8 PM on Monday February 15 and the funeral service for family and many friends will be held 3:00 PM Tuesday February 16 both at Resthaven Mortuary. A graveside farewell will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the ALS Association- Mid America chapter in support of the fight against ALS.
