

Huy, Bonnie, 77, passed from this life into the waiting arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on May 9, 2013. She was born in Boise, Idaho in 1935. Bonnie had a 43 year career in the Aviation industry. She took early retirement from Boeing in 1999 and was recruited to run for the Kansas Legislature where she served three terms. She had many interests in her lifetime which included sewing, reading, travel, and became heavily involved in pro-life activities. Bonnie is survived by her husband Walter “John” Huy; son John S. Huy; daughter Dana D. Huy; three grandsons Chad Schroeder, Matthew Herndon, and Cody Clark; sisters Luna Turner of Huntsville, AR; Barbara Williamson of Twin Falls, ID; and June Standlee of Eden, ID. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, great grandchildren and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother Willie Schmidt and brother Elmer “Dean” Howard. Funeral service will be held 1:00 P.M Saturday May 18 at Resthaven Mortuary with viewing and visitation one hour prior to service. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to The Salvation Army , Kansans for Life, Union Rescue Mission, or Emmanuel Baptist Church. Bonnie would like to remembered as a person who cared deeply for her Lord, family, friends, and her country.
