Betty Jean moved to Colorado Springs at the age of five, where she graduated from high school and met her first husband, Mark W Campbell Sr. Her first job was as a cashier at a Colorado Springs laundry, and afterwards she worked as a telephone switchboard operator for S.W. Bell, "Number, please?". She was told she was too short for that job but she insisted that she could do it, and with her long arms on a barely 5 foot tall frame she proved she could!
She loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, her dog Benji and cats - she never met a cat that she didn't love! She proudly managed the Wendy's salad bar for 10 years when she was in her 70's and was National Employee of the Year, for which she was the most proud. She loved to talk to everyone and never ran out of things to say. She had a compliment for everyone and would often say, "You're such a great lady!" She had so much energy and was so full of life, up until her final days. Everyone enjoyed her company, storytelling, singing, sassiness, and 'gift of gab'.
She is preceded in death by her son, Mark W Campbell Jr., and her loving dog Benji who she is now petting once again.
Betty is survived by her son Kevin C Campbell (Aphrodite); grandchildren: Dana M Doerflinger (Dan), Allison L Cloud (Darin), Mark L Campbell; great grandchildren: Gabriel Doerflinger, Emma Doerflinger, Elijah Doerflinger and Amelia Cloud.
A Graveside Service for Betty will be held Thursday, September 14, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Resthaven in the Garden of Christus, 11800 West Highway 54, Wichita, KS 67209.
