My mother and Betty were friends beginning in childhood, "sisters under the skin" as they would say, and I always called her Aunt Bett. Their friendship lasted until my mother's death in 2009. I always loved Betty and considered her my "real" aunt. She loved people and was always so positive. She was the first to take home movies of me and my sister, (usually dancing,) which were amusing to watch because at that time there was no sound involved.  When I was about 16, I had the great privilege of traveling to Texas with her to visit Jack's family.  She even let me drive her Cadillac, and it was the first time I had driven with cruise-control. When she was at the Masonic Home, I liked to join her for lunch when possible. I usually took her a musical card for her birthday, Mother's Day and other occasions, and a strawberry shake - you would have thought I brought her a pot of gold! She loved her strawberry shakes.  She was a sweet caring soul, and I have many good memories of her from the time I was a child. She was definitely one of a kind.  

Aunt Betty was that special Great , Great Aunt that a kid always loved to visit.  She was a fun loving , high spirited,  and easy going Aunt . 
I loved going to spend the night with her in the summer when we were kids.  I could stay busy at her house for hours. 
You will always have a special place in my heart.❤❤❤  
I would  sneak in to see you at the Masonic home and always had to find you in the gym, doing hair, or entertaining someone.  You were loved by all. 
Be at rest , till we meet again.

Betty was a breath of fresh air to volunteers at the Kansas Masonic Home.  She was cheerful and didn't let a good bit of humor pass without an opportunity for a laugh.  A grand lady with a great outlook, that was Betty Russell.  What a nice individual she was always.  She will be missed

Oh, how I miss you Ma.  Had to go by The Masonic Home today to take care of a few things and I automatically looked into the dining room for you.  You weren't there, but I received sweet words from the nurses and staff, and one little lady blew me a kiss.  Oh, to have held you one last time and got a hug - that would have been wonderful.  I look forward to the day I can see you again and get lots of hugs.  That's the beauty of being a believer in God and what he offers us - Eternal life.  Now to just behave myself to make it.  Tee Hee Hee.  I'm trying to get it all together and have the Celebration of your life that you deserve.  Everyone is so helpful with it.  So many loved you and we were all so blessed to have your love.  Hug Pappy for me.  I know you were happy to find him again.  Are you dancing in Heaven????  

Oh Aunt Bet, I have so many memories of you laughing, smiling, joking. My favorite was going to your house when I was little and having the door open to your, “ Oh, look who it is!” along with a great big hug. Then going into the backyard where you called to the little squirrel you rescued and he would come and scramble up on to your shoulder and you would say, “ Ain’t that somethin’ ?” You will always be deeply loved and I will keep the sound of your laughter and your beautiful smile in my heart forever till we meet again. I love you Aunt Bet from this life to the next.
