She grew up in Garden City, Kansas, and graduated from Garden City High School in 1944. She was a regular at the class reunions. She worked at McConnell Air Force Base as a civil servant for 26 years, and retired in 1974.
Luckily, both she and her husband Jim were able to retire early, and travel. They became snowbirds, traveling to Brownsville, Texas each winter to play golf.
Betty had many friends and enjoyed keeping in touch with them, especially talking to them on the phone. She loved to watch game shows and any sport on tv.
While her friends called her Betty Jean, her family lovingly called her Ya-ya. She was a member of a senior ladies golf group that met weekly and played golf. All the ladies were over 80. But her favorite accomplishment was having a loving family.
She is preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Jim Moore; daughter, Jime Jean Moore; and her beloved dog, Precious.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Rebecca Morris; and great-granddaughters, Jaden and Josie.
Services will be held in the chapel at Resthaven Mortuary on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at 10:00 a.m.
The family requests no flowers! Betty wasn't a flower person, and would have rather had donations made to either the Kansas Humane Society at 3313 N. Hillside St., Wichita, KS 67219, or the Ronald McDonald House of Wichita at 551 N. Hillside, Suite 100, Wichita, KS 67214.
